Auspicious Dates for 2026

For centuries, Chinese families have picked important days from the almanac — the huangli — which marks what each day favors (宜) and forbids (忌). Below are the 2026 dates the traditional system marks as favorable for four big occasions, computed from the classical day-by-day tables.

How these dates are chosen

Each day in the traditional calendar carries a list of favored and avoided activities, derived from its sexagenary day name and its relations to the month and year. A date appears below when the classical tables mark it favorable for that activity. This is cultural tradition, presented faithfully — not a guarantee of outcomes.

One refinement matters: every day also "clashes" (冲) with one zodiac sign. Tradition holds that a date, however auspicious, should be avoided by people of the sign it clashes — so each table lists the day’s clash sign. Check yours before you circle a date.

2026 · Year of the Fire Horse

From February 17, 2026 to February 5, 2027 the wheel belongs to the Fire Horse — the sexagenary year Bingwu, last seen in 1966 and famous enough to move birth rates. Every sign’s 2026 reading below derives from two traditional relations: how it sits with the year’s Horse, and how its fixed element meets the year’s Fire.
